S-Trap or P-Trap? How to Identify Your Toilet Drainage Before Upgrading to a Smart Bidet

S-Trap or P-Trap? How to Identify Your Toilet Drainage Before Upgrading to a Smart Bidet

  •  Buying a smart toilet is an exciting upgrade, but choosing between an S-Trap (Floor Drainage) and a P-Trap (Wall Drainage) is the difference between a seamless installation and a plumbing nightmare. Here is our simple guide to help you identify yours in 3 minutes.

Step 1: Look at the Waste Pipe

  • S-Trap (Floor Drainage): The waste pipe goes vertically down directly into the floor. The pipe is often hidden under the base of the toilet.

  • P-Trap (Wall Drainage): The waste pipe exits horizontally from the back of the toilet and goes into the wall. You will see a thick pipe connecting the toilet to the wall.

Step 2: Measure the "Rough-in" Distance To ensure your new BBbidet fits perfectly, you need to measure the "Rough-in":

  • For S-Trap: Measure from the wall to the center of the drain hole on the floor (usually 305mm or 400mm).

  • For P-Trap: Measure the height from the floor to the center of the waste pipe on the wall (Commonly known as High-level or Low-level in HK).
